The practice provides health check clinics and are available by appointment.
We aim to provide continued monitoring and care of asthma/COPD patients, and help them to improve self–management. Appointments are offered to all patients with asthma/COPD to attend for annual review with the practice nurse. Children with asthma are reviewed on a more regular basis depending on the severity of their asthma. Patients can have their peak flow and inhaler techniques reviewed and get up to date information about new medications.
Patients are advised to have their blood pressure checked regularly. If their GP has prescribed medication to control their blood pressure they will be advised to attend for more frequent monitoring.

We aim to achieve good control of diabetes and prevent complications by providing regular check-up's and education. Appointments will be offered to all patients with diabetes by letter. There are also follow-up clinic for patients who need to be seen more frequently.
We offer an in-house clinic for monitoring patients who are taking Warfarin. The clinic is held on Thursday morning, please speak to Andrea Wallace for further information.
We aim to provide information regarding all aspects of menopause and HRT. Patients can have their weight and blood pressure checked and discuss any concerns they have with the practice nurse.
An appointment for an annual review will be offered to all patients who have angina or who have had a heart attack. The aim is to review the condition, optimise the treatment, and lower risk factors in order to prevent further illness.

These clinics are run by the Practice Nurses and the aim of the clinic is to advise on a "healthy lifestyle" and disease prevention. At these clinics we are able to offer blood pressure checks weight advice and cervical smear testing. Please enquire at reception for clinic times and to make an appointment.
The practice provides a full antenatal and postnatal service together with our midwife, Sue Hunter, who provides services for Bolsover and Glapwell patients. This involves shared care between the midwives, the doctor and the hospital.

Baby Weighing Clinic at WRHC
Run by our Health Visitors in a room just off the waiting room, please feel free to ask our receptionist to direct you if you are not sure. This is open from 9.30am to 11.00am. Please note the last baby weighing time will be 10.45am.
We undertake all primary immunisations of children ourselves and operate a recall system. The practice was one of the first in Derbyshire to introduce regular child development clinics and has been involved since 1971. Clinics are held in conjunction with our attached health visitors and a recall system operates for these clinics as well.
Our counsellor is available to help with emotional and stress related difficulties. Referrals are made following preliminary assessment by your doctor. This can also be done through self referral. Please ask our reception staff for details if you wish to self refer.
The practice provides a full family planning service by appointment. This includes coil and implant fittings and removals as well as"emergency" contraception. Emergency contraception is a valid reason to ask for an urgent appointment.
There is a local Sexual Health Clinic, which can be contacted by telephone on 0800 328 3383 to arrange an appointment. The Sexual Health Clinic is NO longer held at the practice on a Saturday morning.
The partners undertake various injection of joints, cautery, etc. Patients should make an appointment to discuss any minor operations.

We will attempt to fit these in at a convenient time at Bolsover Surgery. Please bring any forms to reception when you book your medical. A deposit is payable on booking.
Although the practice does not wish to promote private medical treatment, if you do have private medical insurance cover, it may be helpful in certain circumstances to tell the doctor.
The service can assist clients with dealing with debts, maximising income including disability benefits and grants. They can also offer assistance in obtaining home adaptations for clients with mobility problems. They offer specialist casework and advice in relation to debts, employment, relationship/family, legal, consumer and housing issues. Citizens Advice staff are at the surgery on a Thursday morning however this is by appointment only. These can be booked by ringing the surgery on 01246 823742.

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
